MULTIPLAYER

MATHS

Thanks to the wireless functionality of the DS, you can test your maths skills with up to 15 friends. Each player needs a Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite of their own, but only one copy of Maths Training is required for everyone to play together.

By selecting Kageyama Method from the Main Menu and then choosing Study Together, a multiplayer session can be set up. You and your friends can participate in a 100 Cell Maths challenge or Division Marathon. The software lets you customise the number of problems you will solve and, in the case of 100 Cell Maths, the types of calculations you will perform.

After you’ve completed each activity, your time and rank will be displayed. This rank is determined by your completion time only (although a time penalty will be incurred if you enter an incorrect answer, which makes it difficult to achieve a fast time). If multiple players have the same completion time, they will receive the same rank.

Challenging 100 Cell Maths and Division Marathon with your friends and family may make you a little nervous, but your completion time will improve faster and you will learn more effectively. Remember, you aren’t competing against other players’ times; you are competing against your own times. Don’t think of it as competing against your friends, think of it as helping to improve each other’s times. Your rank is simply a goal to work towards, not a measure of competition.
